Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

Friday October 30, 2009 ~ Well, once again, Winter has
hit us! This is what we woke up to Friday morning! It's
hard to say how many inches of snow we got this time due
to the heavy drifting from the wind but Wallace did report
22". The drifts were 2-4 ft tall so there was a lot of snow
on the ground!

The pictures really don't do justice to the amount of snow
we got or how high the drifts were!!

Cade took full advantage of the snow day
from school and went out several times
throughout the day and made some snow angels.
This is our 3rd snow fall in as many weeks! It's
really making harvest impossible for the farmers'
so I hope Fall returns soon. It is starting to melt
but it's making things very muddy and hard to
get around. Hopefully the sun will come out soon!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Saturday October 31, 2009 ~ It's Halloween!
Cade is going as a cowboy.

Every year Paxton sponsor's a Halloween parade for kids
from babies to 6th grade. It starts at the firehall and proceeds
through all the downtown business where the kids get candy
and other goodies. Cade posing with some of his classmates,
Cordell, Taylor and Cousin Brooke (the alien).

I have always enjoyed trick-or-treating with the boys' and
over the years we've gone in every kind of weather. Fortunately
tonight, the weather was really pretty nice. Bernie came too so
it was fun to walk through the parade with him too. We figured
this could be our last year. Grace also joined us.

Walking in the parade. There were a lot of people around
and lots of kids this year.

Tyler had fun walking around town with some of his classmates
too. Alex, Taylor, Cam and Connor.

Cade came home with quite a loot!! Yum!
After the parade, some of Cade's classmates
walked all around town with us for more trick-
or-treating. I walked with the kids all over both
sides of Paxton while Bernie and Grace followed
close behind in the vehicle. My feet are killing me!!
But, it was fun. We came home and Grace joined us
for supper, homemade veg. beef stew and biscuits, Mmm!
We had a fun day. Happy Halloween to all!

Pumpkin Carving

Saturday October 31, 2009 ~ Well, it wouldn't be Halloween
without carving pumpkins. And nothing like waiting til the last
minute to do it. Just as I was thinking this would be the first
year we hadn't carved pumpkins, the boys' went down to the
farm and got 3 of Gma Grace's pumpkins to carve. They each
drew their own design. Garrett drew a #12 and a tiger paw
and Cade chose to do the Texas longhorn logo.

Tyler drew a husker 'N'. Go Husker's today!

Bernie cut the tops off for the boys'.

They all worked hard and had fun doing it.

Ta-Da! The boys' with their pumpkins. They turned out great!

Their pumpkins at night look really cool!

Boys' New Project

Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009 ~ Tyler and Cade have plans for their
'new' fort. They've been working on an old chicken house down
at the farm. Today they talked Bernie into bringing it up here.

They are very excited about having a new project
to work on and have lots of plans for it. They are
true country kids and always have to stay busy.

SNOW SNOW AND MORE SNOW

We have had lots of 'Winter' this Fall! These pictures were
taken last week, on Oct. 22nd. The forecast called for 1-3"
but this is what we woke up to......8-10"!!! This is our second
major snow fall in 2 weeks, with rain in between. Needless to
say, this is keeping Bernie out of the field!

The snow has been very pretty to look at.
You can see the corn in the field across the
road and haybales in the distance. This is
the view out our dining room window.
The cows huddled together during the snowfall. I'm not
sure where Fall went! It's too early for this though!

A Day at the Lake

Sunday October 18, 2009 ~ After last week's winter blast
of temps. in the teens and 8+ inches of snow, today's 82
degrees felt like heaven! We couldn't waste this beautiful
day so we headed to the lake in the afternoon.

The weather was unbelieveably perfect! There were a few
fishermen on the water but otherwise it was quiet and peaceful.
*Don't mind the spots on the pictures...it's my camera!grrr!

Tyler and Cade enjoyed playing some baseball with Bernie.
Garrett, unfortunately wasn't able to join us...........for those
of you with teenagers I have one word....GIRLFRIEND!!!!

Garrett missed a fun afternoon. It was a great day for a
game of baseball!

I enjoyed some time sitting on the beach reading a book...
something I never get to do. What a treat!! I can't tell you
how tranquail the afternoon was. Sitting in the sand by the
water, listening to the sounds of the boys playing ball and the
sound of the water and seagulls........it was so enjoyable!

After the boys' wore Bernie out, hee hee, he joined me on
the beach. It was nice to spend some time together. He is
about to get busy with corn harvest so I won't see much of him.

The boys' walked around and found this cliff
to jump off so they had fun doing that. The water
has really come up since we were last out. In fact,
for those that went 4-wheeling with us, the places
we drove we can't even get to now, they're under
water!!

BOYS!! :)
After a few hours, we drove around for awhile
then decided to take the long scenic route home...
we drove completely around the lake!
We had a wonderful day together...a fun spur of
the moment day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BECKY

Friday, October 16, 2009 ~ HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIS!!!
It's my sister Becky's ( on left) birthday. I won't say how
old, just that she's one of my older sisters! :) Hope you
had a great day!!

Thursday Night Varsity Football

Thursday October 15, 2009 ~ Varsity has a game tonight
too. Garrett, #12, is playing tonight after being out last
week. There was concern he had another concussion but
after going to the chiropractor 3 times this week and x-rays
it was discovered that he had 4 vertabrae out of place. He
is feeling better and ready to play!! He is pumped up! He
played some quarterback tonight along with running back,
defensive end and all the special teams.

Garrett added to the dog pile of Leyton Warriors.

Garrett got the quarterback several times. Leyton even
had to send in their back-up after Garrett roughed up
their starter. ( Don't worry Mom's....the Dad's will tell you,
'it's football, it's supose to be rough!) And compared to bull
riding, this is nothing! Tho I've recently wondered if bull
riding wouldn't be safer! Yikes!

Needing a first down, Garrett took a hand off and rumbled
for the first down.

Due to Garrett's more recent injury, he
now wears a cowboy collar to protect his neck.
He said it really helped.

The game was nearly tied at half-time but the Tigers came
out on top, not allowing the Warriors to score at all in the 2nd
half of the game. It was another exciting win for Paxton!!

Bernie congratulating Garrett after the game. He had a
great game tonight and played hard, and most importantly
didn't get hurt!! A first!
WAY TO GO TIGERS!!!

Tyler's Last Junior High Football Game

Thursday, October 15, 2009 ~ It's a great day for
a junior high football game! It's our last one for a few
years.....sniff, sniff. I love watching jr. h f-ball!! It's just
fun. We won't know what to do next year, we've had a
jr. high schedule for 4 years in a row!
Bernie and Garrett watch from the sidelines.

Tyler, #29, played running back and linebacker, his usual
positions. Paxton Tigers are on their home turf playing
rival Hayes Center this afternoon.

The Tigers are hoping for a win today. That would make
them undefeated this year, and be an 8-0 record for the
8th graders.

Tyler, with one of the many times he had
the ball.

Grandma Grace and Aunt Jenny enjoy the game and visiting.

Tyler got around all of these Cardinals and ran 75 yards for
a touchdown, only to have it taken away due to a flag on the
play!!! Argh! It was such an awesome play and so exciting to
watch then major disappointment!!

Tyler, with his eye black, is a serious player.

Well, the score was certainly not the outcome any of us were
expecting or hoping for....... needless to say, the team was
very disappointed. It was a tough loss and not how they wanted
to end their awesome season. We sure felt bad, but they have
nothing to hang their heads about. We're really proud of Tyler
and all he accomplished on and off the football field during his
junior high career.

2009 Paxton Tigers Junior High Football team

Bernie and I LOVE our life! We love being the parents of 3
amazing sons and love watching them play sports and excel!
We are so blessed and are so proud of all of them! We love
being 'sports mom's and dad's'!
*actually, i want to cry! I can't believe Tyler will be in high
school next year!!!!!
