My 20 year class reunion

July 30, 2010 ~ Well, as hard as it is to believe, I went to my
20 year high school reunion last night! Wow, it was SO good
to see everyone!
I met dear friend Monica early and enjoyed supper and catching
up then we walked down to the Winery in Paxton to meet up with
old classmates. Monica, Me, Tina Collins and Traci Nelson.

Monica, Amber Brunke, Kerry Haggard, Traci Nelson, Me,
Lisa Brooks, Katie Haggard and Tina Collins.
We had a large crowd show up at the Winery and it was
really so good to see everyone! Everyone looks the same!

Me and Monica ~ 1990

Monica and I ~ 20 years later! We've been friends for 27 years!

Ok, here's a pic from back in the day! My
jr. prom I went with fellow classmate Jay
Jones. ~1989

Here's Jay and I 21 years later! And, he didn't even recognize
me at first! LOL!

1988 ~ Julie Bloomenkamp, Tera Newlin, Christine Brestel and I.
Julie and Tera made it last night and it was fun to see them!

1988! Scary!

1990~ Gotta love 80's hair! Was actually
skinny tho!

May 1990~ On this day, I could not even
imagine not seeing my friends/classmates
again having 'grown up' with them. And our
20 year reunion seemed like such a far away
impossibility! Seeing everyone last night was
like we'd never parted! And boy, did 20 years fly by!

Brooke's Bday

My neice Brooke turned 12 on July 29th and celebrated with
a little party on the 28th. She had friends over and lots of cake!

Happy Birthday Brooke!

After cake and presents it was time to slip n slide!

Cade had fun!

But did not have fun having his picture taken!
It's a boy thing!

Now it's time for water balloon fights! Here's the 'blue' team!

Ready for war! :)
Everyone had a good time and it was a great way to cool off
on a hot summer day.

Wheat Harvest 2010

July 26, 2010 ~ After a few attempts, wheat harvest is finally underway.
Early in the season some of the wheat was lost due to hail, then recently
we've had rain and some of the wheat was still green but today we're in full gear!

Wheat harvest crew! ~ Tyler, Bernie, Garrett & Cade

Don't they look like a hard working dirty bunch!

It's kind of 'musical equipment'. First Tyler drove the tractor
and grain cart, his favorite thing to do! He's really good at it too!

Bernie's running the combine and Tyler heads over so Bernie
can dump the wheat on the grain cart.

Cade rode with Bernie in the combine for awhile now he's
in the Tyler.

Tyler and Cade had to go get cows/calves back in that
were out so it's Garrett's turn to run the tractor/grain cart.

I rode with Bernie earlier so am now riding with Garrett.

Garrett dumps the wheat onto the truck then Bernie will
take it to the bins. Another couple years and Garrett can
get his CDL license and drive the truck too!

While Bernie dumps the truck, Garrett drives the
combine. I told you it was musical equipment! ha ha!
This is Garrett's first year to run the combine and he
really likes it!

After a few rounds, Garrett dumps onto the grain cart.

Tyler and Cade are back! So, they're back in the tractor and
Garrett is riding with Bernie in the combine. I baked cookies
and brought them lunch and drinks so they eat inbetween
their grain cart duties.

Bernie likes harvest time and running the combine. And he
likes having the boys' help. They do a good job and are a big
help to Bernie.

When I left the field, it was 91* and the wind was coming up,
pretty typical harvest weather, and they were just finishing
up this field and getting ready to move on to the next one so
things are going well and I enjoyed the rides! :)

4th of July

Saturday July 3rd, 2010 ~ We had a fun holiday weekend.
We had Bernie's Mom up for supper and grilled out burgers
and had baked beans, salads and cherry cheesecake then
afterwards the boys' got ready to do their fireworks. About the
time we went outside the wind came up but we managed to do
them anyway.

It took awhile to get through all of the fireworks but they
were good, especially the artillery shells! We no sooner got
done and got in the house when it started to rain. Good timing!

Cade

Garrett says " I don't care what anyone
says, sparklers are still fun!"

Tyler

Happy 4th of July!!!~Here we are at my sister
Teresa's in Ogallala.

Bernie and Tyler resting after playing tennis! When we first
got to town, they dropped me off at the movies so I could see
"Eclipse" ( awesome! ), then they went to play some tennis
until I got out. Now we're all at T's for food and fireworks!

Lot's of family and friends came to enjoy the evening.

Garrett with my nephew Tanner.

What a couple gubers!

Me and Dad.

Sister Becky and neice Ashton.

Sister Teresa.

As usual, we had lots of great food!!

It's about time for the fireworks to start! Leave it to Cade
to give Garrett bunny ears! Otherwise it's a great picture
of Tanner and Garrett.

Bernie and I. Everyone's got their lawn chairs and ready
to watch the big show! Teresa's house sits just a ways up
the hill from where they light off the town fireworks show.
It's the best seat in town!!

Lot's of Ooohhs and Aaaahs! The 'booms' are
so loud and the fireworks literally rain down
on you, it was an awesome show!

It last about 21 minutes and the finale was
incredible! Everyone had a great time all
evening. We enjoyed all of the family, friends,
food and fireworks!!
The fireworks no sooner got over and we headed
for home when a storm moved in and it poured
rain in Ogallala and the winds were 50-70mph!
More good timing!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
