Over the Hill

Monday, March 14, 2011 ----- Happy Birthday Bernie!!
Bernie turns the Big 5-0!!! This morning he opened his
gifts from us.

Then later that evening I hosted a surprise party for him!
He about didn't make it to his own party!! I had to tell several
'lies' to pull it off, ha ha. He didn't think he could get off work
that early and didn't want to drive a second vehicle to town
but luckily he did and we were all there to yell "Surprise"
when he walked into the Windy Gap!! :)

He was a good sport and was really glad
to see everyone there.

Lighting 50 candles would have been a fire hazard! lol

He received some really fun cards and gag
gifts which he enjoyed! This is a blow up walker!

An Old fart tool belt!

And a potty night light!

Some of the boys' friends were able to join us in celebrating.

Friends Jerry and Dori Kennicutt and their boys' came

Monica, Justin & Shelby

Becky, Dad and Todd enjoying happy hour.

Carson and Jen

Tonya and Brad

Bernie's employers Steve and Susan and son Nick and his family
were able to join us too.

Mom, Dad, Grace, Aunt Frances and Uncle Louie made it too.

Bernie had a really great time seeing everyone and visiting!

Jen and Becky

Bernie had a great birthday!!! Look at all of the gifts and cards
he received!! He felt very loved and turning 50 wasn't quite so
painful!! Thanks to everyone who were able to join us and for
all of the bday wishes!! I think Bernie is very much feeling '50' and
I can't believe I'm married to such an old guy! LOL!!

February 2011

February has been busy for us. Starting off on Feb. 1st, I turned
39! I had a week long celebration, getting supper out twice, lunch
with friend Monica one day, lunch with my folks' and sister's Jen
and Becky another, bowling and lots of bday wishes at work and
the night of my bday at the basketball game! Whew! Turning 39
wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! Next year may be another
story tho.......

Valentine's Day~ the boys' got lots of goodies from us!

And, Bernie and I celebrated our 18th Anniversary!!! Wow!

I pulled up at work and followed a delivery guy up the
walk and into the school building. Little did I know that
these beautiful dozen red roses were MINE!!!! My sweet
husband never ceases to amaze me!! I was SOOOO surprised
as this was a first for him!! The boys' were even shocked! They
said "I didn't know Dad knew how to order flowers!" :) What a
guy!!!! I love him for many reasons and love that he thought
enough to surprise me! I don't know how he pulled it off but
it worked! We celebrated the weekend before with a movie and
supper at Whiskey Creek. And am still enjoying my Bday/Vtine/Anniversary
gift of a brand new RED washer and dryer!!!! My very first brand new
w/d set! After 18 years of marriage! Needless to say, doing laundry should
not be so much fun!

We also had Parent's Night for basketball. It's always a fun
night. We are sooooo proud of our boys'!! They've both had
a great season and we love cheering them on!!!

Last week we had a wonderful taste of Spring
Fever and enjoyed some grilling out and hanging
clothes out on the line! This week tho, it's back to
old man Winter! Brrrrr!
The boys' have Prom coming up in March. Garrett
is a Junior so we have to help with money donations,
decorating and staying up late to hand out prizes! Should
be a fun time! This will be Tyler's first prom! :)
Bernie has a BIG milestone coming up in March too!!
The Big 5-0!!! I think he's feeling it too, poor guy!!
Work is going well for me tho I am SOO ready for Summer
vacation! I feel like I'm behind on many 'to do's' and really
just need several days off in a row to accomplish them! With
working every day I easily get behind!
Hope this finds you all well. Check back in March!! :)

Birthday and Basketball

12.30.10 ~ My firstborn turns 17!!!! Hard to believe!! He is
growing up faster than I am ready for! We woke him up at 6am,
singing 'happy birthday' then he opened his gifts and we had
blueberry muffins for breakfast...all birthday traditions at our house.

Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate for
Garrett...we had plans to go to a movie and out for
supper to celebrate but the snow kept us home.
Plan B, I made him a nice bday supper and we
watched "The A-Team" and topped it off with boston
creme pie (cake) made by Grace and ice cream! He had
a good day, tho not probably spent how a 17 yr old would want!

Cade and Tyler did a little pheasant hunting over Xmas break.

School is back in session and so is our busy
basketball schedule!
1.7.11 ~ we traveled to Maywood. Tyler had
a great game.

It's fun watching the boys' play basketball together this year!

The JV team went on to Win 22-0!

Garrett played Varsity also and had a great game too!

Another Win for the Paxton Tigers!

1.8.11 ~ Saturday we hosted Hershey.

Both boys' saw a lot of playing time during
the JV game.

Was a close loss. The game went back and forth several times
and was exciting to watch. The Tigers held their own, as we are
a Class D-2 school and Hershey is Class C. Tigers are now 8-2.

1.8.11 ~ After the ball game, Tyler went up to his buddy Connor's
house and they got ready for a dance.
Tyler, Connor and Cam all look very handsome!
Bernie and I drove Tyler and Connor to Ogallala, in snow storm,
to go to Ogallala's Winter Ball. They were both excited!

Tyler, with his girlfriend Sidney, and some of her friends,
along with Connor and his date. Everyone looked so nice!

Tyler & Sidney looked so nice together!

~ At the dance ~
Connor's folks graciously picked the boys'
up, in a snow storm, since we took them, then
Tyler stayed the night at Connor's. He sent me
a text tho, and reported that he had a "GREAT" time!
Sometimes it's hard to believe he's a Freshman and
enjoying new experiences too!
We are enjoying a beautiful snowfall right now! Every
thing is covered in white and looks so pretty! I'm not sure
how much we have so far, maybe 4", with more forecasted,
along with bitter temps moving in tomorrow. We are holding
out for a 'snow day' this week! :) We have plenty of firewood
stocked up and the pantry is full of fixin's for good 'ol comfort
food so we're set! Hope you're all warm and snug too! Enjoy
the updated pics! :)
