Birthday Bowling

Sunday Oct. 11, 2009 ~ Tyler is celebrating his birthday
weekend! He turns 14 tomorrow the 12th! His buddy,
Connor came home with us Friday night. They had a good
time this weekend. Bernie took them coyote hunting this
morning then we made a trip to North Platte to treat
Tyler to lunch at Pizza Hut then decided spur of the moment
to go bowling!

Tyler, Cade and Connor all ready to bowl!!!

I haven't bowled since high school!!! Yikes! I don't think
Bernie has either so it's been a loooooong time!

I'm first up!! Nothin' to it........I bowled a STRIKE!!!! It's
just like riding a bike! :) ha ha. The boys' couldn't believe
it! They said I bowled like a professional!! We bowled 2
games, my score was a 101 and a 114......is that good???

Bernie, Mr. Show-off won both games with a 122 and a 146!

Birthday boy was getting a little frustrated, he didn't think
he was doing very good but he did good. He even bowled 2
strikes! We'll just have to go more often so he can practice.

Cade did really good! He bowled a 109 and an 88.

Connor bowled a 102 and an 88, he did good too.

Connor and Tyler. We all had a fun time!

This was honestly a "first" for Bernie and I. We've been
married almost 16 years and this is the absolute very first
time we've ever been bowling together!!! It was really a
lot of fun!! We decided we would definately do it more often.
Maybe next time Garrett will be able to join us.
Hopefully Tyler will have a fun day tomorrow. I will post
more pictures from his day then.

Winter Blast

Saturday Oct. 10, 2009 ~ This is what we
woke up to this morning. It looks, and feels
more like Winter than Fall! This mornings
temp. was around 19 degrees, brrrrr!

I haven't heard for sure but I would guess there to be
alteast 6 inches on the ground and it's still lightly snowing.

The view from our dining room window, the snow is drifted
about a foot or more high around the front of the house in
some areas. I know the ride home from the game last night
was nail biting! The highway was a little slick then once we
got on dirt roads they were already covered and starting to
drift. The snow was coming down so hard the visability was
almost nil! I could only go about 25-30mph so it seemed like
a long ride home! It was a good thing I know my way because
it was impossible to see roads and corners! I was so glad to
finally make it home! I hope Fall returns soon, it's too early
for Winter!!

Homecoming

Friday Oct. 9th, 2009 ~ Homecoming night. No, there's
nothing wrong with this picture, that's SNOW!! It started
snowing about the same time the game started and it just
came down in big 'ol flakes! The temp. was 21 degrees so
it was a bitter night but the fans, the band and the dance
girls all braved the weather to cheer on our Tigers!

Garrett, towards left in camo coat, was unable to play this
game because of his injury, so he had to cheer from the
sidelines which was really hard since it's homecoming and
because it's snowing! He's always wanted to play in the snow!
He said, "Mom, this is my dream game."

The boys were cold and wet and the field was even slick
but they stuck it out despite playing against a tough team.

The scoreboard should unfortunately read, Tigers - 6
and the Hayes Center Cardinals - 69!! Homecoming games
are always tough to lose but tonight we were just no match.
The royalty was crowned right after but only took about 5
minutes due to the weather so I didn't get any pictures.

Garrett with his homecoming date/girlfriend
Erica before the dance.

It is snowing even worse out at this time
and roads are slick and visability is low so
Garrett was glad to have a sweater but poor
Erica is going to freeze!

This is Garrett and Erica's second homecoming together.
Don't they look nice!

Garrett's cousin Dani, from Grant also attended the dance
with her Paxton date, Cole so they stopped over to Erica's
for a few pictures. Dani looks so pretty too!

Dani is a senior ~ Garrett is a sophomore

Homecoming Fun Day

Thursday Oct. 8th, 2009 ~ I worked at school today so was
able to get some pictures of the Homecoming festivities.
There's been lots of fun things going on this week leading
up to the big game tomorrow night.

The Sophomores, Garrett's class, did a great job decorating
their hall. They won hall decorating for the second year!

GO TIGERS!!!!!

This year's theme is "Pluck the Cardinals"

Today was also Dress Opposite day....so with a little help
from some girl classmates, the guys became 'gals'! Garrett,
in middle, with fellow classmates Jordan Holzfaster (L)
and Wade Waugh (R) show off their lady-like muscles!

Garrett, on left, and friend Jordan ham it up in their skirts.
They were hilarious! I couldn't stop staring at them!

Nice legs!! Garrett was so funny with his
manly-walk in a skirt, not to mention he'd
swish his hair back and forth! I always
thought I wanted a girl but this was too much!
Ha ha! The day was lots of fun! Lots of brave
guys' dressed up, what a hoot!! What fun times!

Monday Jr High Football

Monday Oct. 5, 2009~ We traveled to
Maxwell for our first, and only, away game.
It was rainy so Tyler was excited! Gma Grace
was able to ride with us to watch.
The Tigers received first. Tyler played linebacker. He
had some good hits!

Tyler managed to juke around these Maxwell players...

and left everyone in the dust to score his first of 2 TD's!
The boys' were able to experience playing
'under the lights'. Tyler #29.
Tyler played running back on offense.
After the game, Tyler posed with a few
of his muddy teammates, Cam O'Connor
and Connor Merrill. The boys played an
awesome game and went on to WIN 20-14!
They are now 3-0! We have one more game
next week.

Sara, Garrett, Tyler, Cade and Bernie after the game.
We were all glad to get in and get warmed up! We were all
wet from standing in the drizzle. The JV team played after
the jr. high and it was pouring rain then!! We didn't stay
for that game since Garrett wasn't able to play but Garrett
did to cheer his teammates on. We stopped in North Platte
on the way home to treat Tyler to supper for his win! He
did an awesome job and is so fun to watch!
*Update on Garrett: Thankfully he did not suffer another
concussion during last Friday's game but the 6th & 7th
vertebrae in his neck are out of place. He will see a chiropractor
and hopefully be able to finish out his season, though he will
miss this Friday's Homecoming game. Keep him, and Tyler
in your prayers, that they stay safe during their games! :)

Friday Night Football

Friday, Oct. 2, 2009 ~ Paxton Tigers travel to Wallace
(Garrett is behind #29). The Paxton fans had a tailgate
party with lots of good food! We had a large crowd and
luckily the wind went down after blowing 45+ for two
days!

Tyler, student manager, and Garrett
watch from the sideline.

Garrett, #12 to the far right. Paxton scored the first TD
of the night and the score teter-totered back and forth
all night. The refs made a few bad calls and the Wildcats
played a little dirty so it was a vocal game from both
sidelines, but very exciting! The Tigers did a great job!

Bernie and my nephew Tanner. He rode with us to watch
Cousin Garrett play. Gma Grace came too, she toughed it
out on the bleachers until half time then we all retreated
to the vehicle for hot chocolate! :)

Garrett, white jersey on right, had some great plays!

Garrett got hurt on a tackle in the first quarter when he
kind of wrenched his neck. The coach, whose been keeping a
close eye on Garrett as he's coming back from a concusion
had Bernie and I talk to him and an emt look at him and it
was decided they'd wait til the middle of the 2nd qt. to see
how he was doing. Garrett does not like to be on the side
lines so was eager to go back in in the 3rd qt. He took
another big hit though and got dizzy so the ambulance
crew checked him out. It was decided at that time that
he was done playing for the night. He was really bummed
but we didn't want to take any chances. We're not sure at
this time what this means for Garrett but there is a good
possibility that he is done playing for the season......

Garrett got warmed up then finished watching the game
from the sidelines. The last quarter was pretty exciting
and he hated not being able to play. The coach said they
really missed him not being in there too.

Coach Moreland felt really bad that Garrett got hurt. He
thinks very highly of Garrett and he's a great asset to the
team. He told Garrett to get healed and that he was very
proud of him. He took good care of Garrett after the game
and we appreciated his concern.

Good news was....Paxton was able to hang on to the
lead and WON their 2nd game of the season!!!!! It was
very exciting as the fans cheered "hip, hip, hooray" and
went on to the field to congratulate the boys'! Another fun
game and a great win for Paxton over their rival!
Homecoming is next week so lots of fun things are ahead!
---------------------------------------------------------
We checked Garrett throughout the night and morning as
the emt's gave us signs to look for. He iced his neck/shoulder
area too and was able to get some rest. We will see what the
next day or two brings...
