November

Nov. 2010 ~ O wow, it is really hard to keep up
with the blog! Here are some pics from November.
You can see how busy we've been.
Corn harvest is over. The weather couldn't have been
better! We had no snow delays so were able to get the
corn out pretty timely this year. On this day, Cade
finally took a turn at the helm and learned how to drive
the tractor and grain cart. With 2 older brothers he just
hasn't had the chance but being almost 12, he is past the
age to learn...the other boys' were around 8-10 when they
learned. I'm not sure how well he really liked it but he did
a pretty good job!

Big Brother Garrett rode with him to show him
how everything works.

This is Bernie's favorite time of year and favorite thing to do...
corn harvest and running the combine!

Bernie dumping corn on Garrett and Cade's grain cart.

Tyler loves to farm too!! He is much like his Dad! He can
drive any piece of equipment and whether it's 100* or 10 below
it doesn't matter to him.

Tyler, with his cornstalk antenna.

11.8.10 ~ No, Garrett wasn't in a bar fight but
he did look pretty rough when he came back from
a 2 day Math field trip to Lincoln!! Yes, I did say Math!
I swear, Garrett is an accident waiting to happen! This is
what happens when you play football at night, in the dark,
in the hotel parking lot....you gotta watch out for those brick
walls! Witnesses, a.k.a. his buddies, said there was so much
blood it looked like there had been a murder in the parking lot!
He probably really could have used a few stitches but toughed
it out as always. His face, back, finger and leg were all scraped
up too. Needless to say, he's been pretty sore and I've decided
no more Math trips for him! LOL. I'm tellin' ya, I think bullriding
looks safer and safer!

11.13.10 ~ This is Tyler this morning. He is one
happy hunter!!! He bagged a really nice 4x4 mule
buck, with one shot to the heart at 140 yds!

Brother Garrett did a nice job taking these pics in the field.
Nice buck, Tyler!!

They pulled in the yard honking and hollering like crazy!
They were SO excited to show it to me and tell me about
their morning adventure!

It was a cold, early morning but it paid off!
Garrett-16 * Tyler-15

Tyler is sure proud, as he should be!!!
Nice job son!!
~ November has been busy with wrapping up corn
harvest and doing some odds-n-ends around the
house. Garrett and I even put up our outside Xmas
lights on the 7th!!! Usually I'm not THAT prepared
but it was a beautiful 70* outside and I just couldn't
pass up putting lights up while it was nice out! I know
I'll be glad we did when Dec. hits and it's cold outside!
Basketball practice starts the 15th with our first game
Dec. 3rd. Cade's bday is coming up on the 20th and Thanksgiving
is right behind. Work is going pretty well. I'm settled into a routine
and am determined to like working! I do love the kids I work with
at school, just don't like not having enough time to do it all and be it all!
But, things are well and I'm thankful for that, and thankful for all of
blessings!! Love to all our family and friends!

Catching Up

October~Well......I'm finding it about impossible to 'keep up' with
much of anything since I started working every day. For someone
who likes to have things 'just so', I've been pretty overwhelmed trying
to work and still keep up the household and all of the boys' activities, but,
it is what it is and I just get through each day as it comes. Here are a few
pictures to catch you up on our busy month. The first few are out of order
by dates, sorry.
The rainbow appeared after a bad thunderstorm went through just before
our football game at Leyton on 10-8-10.

Garrett had to cheer from the sidelines this game as you will
see in pictures to come. It was hard for him not to be in the game.

Tyler did a great job!

Our 2nd win of the season! Great job Tigers!

After the game. Was a late night, pulled into the yard at 1am!

10-10-10~ Tyler's bday was coming up so he celebrated with
some friends at the bowling alley in Ogallala. Everyone had a
great time and we went out for pizza afterwards.

We had cake too!

Bernie and Cade and I bowled too. Was a fun afternoon.

Mom came down to hang out and have cake with us.

10-1-10~ We had a beautiful day for a football
game! Hay Springs came to Paxton and due to the
distance we had a early game. I didn't get very many pictures
this game though...

Right after I took this picture, Garrett was injured when an
opponent took a late hit on him. Garrett had actually gotten
hurt in the 1st qtr but stayed in the game but when this hit
came right before the end of the 2nd qtr he literally crawled
off the field and could not breathe.

We spent about 20-30 scary minutes on the field with Garrett
while emt's responded to him. He could not breathe and his chest/ribs
hurt. Garrett was finally loaded into the ambulance and given oxygen
and was transported to the North Platte emergency room. I followed
behind while Bernie stayed to watch Tyler play. Everyone said Tyler
really had an awesome 2nd half of the game and later he said he 'played
for Garrett'. The Dr. took an x-ray and examined Garrett and said he had
a rib fracture and chest contusion. We left the hospital and met up with
Bernie, boys' and their friends at The Gap to eat but Garrett got really bad
again and I ended up rushing him back to the ER.

We spent 3 1/2 hrs there the second time. Garrett
ended up having to have a CT scan with dye and the Dr.
discovered a small pinhole in his lung. We got home about
1am and Garrett slept in the chair. The next day we had so
many phone calls, texts, fb messages and visitors which we
greatly appreciated!!! One of Garrett's teammate's and his
parents came over and brought a meal for us! Everyone was
SO thoughtful! Garrett did go to school the following Monday
but ended up being home the rest of the week to rest and recuperate.
We made 2 follow up Dr. appts and on the 2nd one, Garrett was cleared
to play again which made him very happy!
October 12, 2010~ Happy 15th Birthday Tyler!!
This morning Tyler opened his gifts and got what
he asked for and had a good day at school so he had
a good bday! Hard to believe he's 15 and in high school!
Time is going way to fast!

In the evening we had cake and ice cream
after the supper of Tyler's request....deer steak! ugh.

He got 'em with one blow!

Oct. 12-15th~this past week has been Homecoming week
for us so it's been a crazy week at school! Lot's of fun activities
going on. This is the Freshman hall decorations.
They did a great job! Our theme was 'Ride the Storm'.

The junior's hall.

They took 1st place again! The picture
doesn't do it justice, it was pretty cool!

Dress up days! This was 'couples day'......don't ask!

Switch day~the football boys' dressed up
as cross country runners! There was a little
'rivalry' this week between them so it was
pretty funny.

Cowboy day! Garrett actually looks 'normal', ha ha.

Tyler and friend Taylor

Jersey day~ the football boys' doning some awesome 'tattoos'!

Friend Bailee wore Tyler's jersey today.

The volleyball girls' decorated the football boys' vehicles
so that was fun too.

10-15-10~ Game time!!!! Don't know how I managed to get
lucky and get this shot! Garrett #12, Tyler #29 and Bernie
high-fiving on the left!! Cool!

It got dark early tonight but it was a perfect night for a football
game. Mom, Dad and Bernie's brother Dave and kids came to
watch and cheer on the boys' too. This is Garrett on his way to
another touchdown! He scored 4 or 5, I lost count!

Garrett was feeling good and was pumped to be back to play
in the homecoming game!

Tyler had a great game too!!!

Tyler #29

A BIG homecoming win for the Tigers!! Was an exciting game!

Garrett came out of the game 4th qtr with an ankle 'sting' but
after icing it for awhile it was fine and other than being sore,
his ribs didn't give him any trouble.
Was SO fun to watch the boys' play together!

Tyler was nominated for Freshman Homecoming
attendant!!!!! He was so excited and so were we!
We couldn't be prouder!! Cutie Taylor H. was also
nominated. Congratulations!!!!

2010 Homecoming Court

Tyler and Taylor looked so cute and had
so much fun!

PROUD Mom!!!!!

Garrett and date, Jesse and Tyler and date Sydney. They
all looked sooo nice!

Tyler and Taylor dressed for the dance.
Was a really fun week and an awesome Homecoming!
This catches you up on what we've been doing. I'm not
sure when I'll post next time. I do keep up on facebook
every day though so that's a better way to keep up to date
on us. I always have good intentions but am having trouble
keeping up with much of anything these days. I don't want
to wish these days away as the boys' are already growing up
too fast and the days seem to just run into each other but I
would like some time to catch my breath and get caught up on
several things so that I can feel like I can keep up with everything!
Not sure how working will go...so far, it's not proving to be cost effective
as my earnings and fuel expenses are nearly matching, but, I do enjoy
the work and the kids at school so I'm not sure what will happen down
the road....one day at a time!
Happy Fall to all of you!!
