More Track

We've been busy with lots of track meets! Here are a few
pictures from the last 3. Garrett had a track meet Friday
the 16th. He competed in the 4x8 relay, 100 m. dash and
the 200m. dash. In the relay, Garrett was the 4th runner
and Paxton ended up in 3rd place. Garrett's time was 2.13.

Garrett, in middle, was in the 2nd heat of the 100 m. dash.

Garrett came in first with a time of 11.9 and
made it to the finals. In finals, he ended up a
very close second with a time of 11.4! Was a
good race!

The 200 m dash preliminaries...

Garrett came in first with a time of 23.9,
making it to finals in this event also. He ended
up second in the finals with a time of 23.6. He had
an awesome day and did really well!

On Tuesday the 20th, Garrett competed in the 100 m. dash,
the 400 m dash and the 200 m. dash. He got 1st place in his
heat with a time of 11.7 and ended up 4th overall in the event.
The 200 preliminaries Garrett was up against all of his tough
competition...

Garrett kicked it into overdrive to catch up with his 'rival'
another Garrett, from Sutherland...

Here he comes!! Closer, closer, closer....

almost there....

A photo finish!!!!!!!! But, they picked Garrett for 2nd place!
O soooooo close!! His time was 23.8. Facing off again in the
finals, Garrett ended up 3rd overall with a time of 24.1.
This was an exciting race!!! Garrett also ended up 5th in
the 400 m dash with a time of .55! If you know anything
about track, you know that was a fast race if 5th place was .55!!

Since it rained the night before, Bernie
was able to surprise Garrett and make it
to his track meet. Garrett was so glad he
could watch him and Bernie enjoyed seeing
him too. Garrett is really doing good this year
and is so close to beating his closest competitors
and his owns times as well.

Wednesday 4.21.10 ~ Some of Tyler's teammates and friends
having a little fun this morning! Tristan, Tyler, Dalton, Connor,
Cam and Karlie.

I video taped mostly today so I don't have
many pictures of Tyler's meet today. He
competed in the 100 m dash, the 400 m
dash and the 195 hurdles.

He was trying soooo hard to beat the kid
in blue!! He gave it his all!!

Tyler ended up 2nd tho with a time of 12.4.
Tyler also got 2nd in the 195 hurdles with
a time of 29. He did a great job and really
likes the hurdles. He got 2nd place in the 400
m dash too, with a time of 59. He had a great
day and was glad that Bernie was able to get
away for awhile and come watch him too.
Gma Grace was able to make it today too.
The boys' are both really doing good. It will be
exciting next year when Tyler gets into high
school too and they can compete together!
We have more track meets next week too.
I'll try not to bore you all to death with too
many track pictures!! :)

Tyler's First Track Meet '10

Wednesday April 14, '10 ~ Today is Tyler's first junior high
track meet of the season. This is a re-scheduled event as it
snowed last week! Today the weather is beautiful tho and is
a perfect day for a track meet, especially with the wind we
had yesterday! Tyler was surprised and excited to see that
Bernie made it to his track meet! Good thing it rained yesterday
so he couldn't get in the field. :)

Tyler competed in the 110 hurdles.

He is very good at hurdles and fun to watch.

Yeh!!!! First place!! Nice job Tyler! His
time was 19.5, awesome!

Tyler ( on left in yellow ) also competed in the 100 m. dash.

He pushed so hard!!

A photo finish! He got 2nd place with a time of 12.3!

Tyler was the first runner on the 4x1 relay.

He had a good hand-off and their team came in 1st! Their
time was 58.9.

The winning relay team! Tyler, Drake,
Alec and Jordan. Way to go Tigers!
Tyler also competed in the 185 hurdles
and got first place in that too, with a time
of 27.8!! He did awesome today!
The Paxton boys' won the invitational by
leaps and bounds with a team score of 165!

First Spring Storm of the Season

Tuesday April 13, 2010 ~ Starting Monday night, the wind
came up and didn't let up for the next 24 hours! It was
relentless! The wind blew from the south at 35+mph ALL
day increasing to 58mph by afternoon! It was beyond any
wind that we've had in a long time and about drove me crazy
listening to it all day!! Notice the trees leaning to the right
and all the dirt in the air!

By mid-afternoon, the skies turned gray and the clouds
moved in with the wind increasing! This view is to the
north west. Note the trees at the very bottom of the picture,
they are leaning to the right.

The sky almost have a greenish color to it.

This view is to the north. In a very short time the skies
became very ominous. We had a wind advisory in effect
all day then had severe weather warnings in the afternoon.

It turned very cold very quickly.

This view is to the north east. We did have tornado warnings
in surrounding counties.

This picture doesn't do any justice to how bad the skies looked!

Not sure if this is dirt blowing or some
thing else.... This view is to the north
east and I had my zoom lense on as
far as it would go. Then the rain began
and it POURED! And the wind completely
went away! It was so strange.

After about an hour, the rain stopped
and a beautiful double rainbow appeared
to the east. Finally, an end to a day of
horrendous winds and our first spring storm.
We ended up with .80 of rain and some
pea size hail. Luckily we didn't have any
damage from the winds but we've noticed
other places that have lots of shingle damage.

Happy Easter

Sunday April 4, 2010 ~ Happy Easter to all of our family
and friends!!! We are thinking of all of you today.

"Who's Your Bunny?" ha ha :)

Our morning started with dough jenny's! Yum! Bernie and I
cut them and Cade helped fry them. We eat them with butter,
jelly or honey on them...a favorite at our family reunion, mmmm!

The boys' got sack fulls of goodies!

We drove to Ogallala to have dinner at my sister Teresa's
house. The weather is nice today.
My Niece Tracy and her daughter, Bernie
and I's God-daughter, Taya were able to
come from Omaha for the holiday weekend.
It was so good to see them!

Sister Teresa, Tracy and Taya

My sister Teresa with her daughter Tracy
and son Wade.

Me and Tracy!

The Blackman Crew!!! Luke, Jared, Nathan, Missy, Abigail,
Matthew and Jacob. What a great bunch of kids!! They are
so good you hardly know they're around! It was great to see
them too. The kids are getting so big!

The beautiful O'Keefe family! Miss Zoe, Britni, Miss Haley
and Brad came from North Platte to join us! The girls' are
such sweethearts and looked so pretty in their Easter dresses!

My sister Jenny and Carson

My sisters ~ we went outside for our traditional 'sisters'
picture. We always stand in a certain order so when I stood
in the middle instead of sister Jenny she wanted 'her spot'
back.....

so I clung to sister Teresa to maintain my position! We all
had a good laugh!!

Us girls with Dad

Us girls with Mom

The Graves Family
We had a wonderful meal of ham, pork and roast, with mashed
potatoes, gravy, creamy corn, rolls and lots of salads, relishes
and yummy desserts!!! The food was delicious!! After all of the
food we ate, we headed down to the tennis courts that are just
a couple blocks from Teresa's to burn off some calories!

Tyler, Cade, Bernie and Garrett

We played for a couple hours and had a lot of fun! The weather
was really nice out so was perfect for being outside doing something.
Not sure who really 'won' but it was sure fun to just mess around.
Afterwards we stopped for ice cream then headed home. We stopped
down at the farm to wish Bernie's mom a happy Easter then came home.
As I type this, the boys' are all outside roasting marshmallows in front of
the 'campfire' they made in the backyard!! And that was our Easter!!
We had a great day and are thankful for all of the blessings that Christ
brings into our lives. We extend our Easter wishes to all of you and
pray you had a glorious day as well.
